Dior’s new Cruise 2022 Collection showcased a very well known dress from the early 2k. While runway shows are just starting to come back again, Dior’s Maria Grazia Chiuri showed off her latest collection at Athens’s historic Panathenaic Stadium. The show featured glorious gowns, but it was the last one that caught everyone’s eye and sent us back in time. It seems like Chiuri was inspired by singer Björk’s infamous dress from the 2001 Oscars. You know, the swan dress that’s still talked about to this day? For Dior’s closing look, Chiuri reimagined the signer’s iconic dress originally from Marjan Pejoski’s winter 2001 collection.

While Björk’s swan dress was a minidress, Dior’s iteration went down to the floor and featured tiered ruffles. The swan’s beak also came in black as opposed to the original orange hue of the singer’s red carpet moment. Now, the real question is who will we see wear this look on the red carpet in the upcoming months? Until then, keep reading to take a look back at the original dress and Dior’s version ahead.

Dior Recreated Swan dress for 2022 Cruise Collection

The bridal ensemble looks very similar to Björk’s swan dress from the 2001 Oscars, designed by Marjan Pejoski. “The swan dress was actually part of my winter 2001–2002 collection and Björk saw it and loved it,” the designer told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview from 2015. “She took it a step further and made an event of the whole thing by creating ostrich egg bags and laying them on the carpet. With the Oscars, there’s a uniform, like the police. Björk was definitely outside the box. Without people like her, it would be boring. Was I surprised by [the reaction]? Of course. Look at us, 15 years later and we’re talking about it.”
